This Privacy Policy describes how RentzAuto("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and shares information about you when you use our website at rentzauto.net and our mobile application (collectively, the "Service"). By using our Service you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of personal information:

Account Information

Name, email address, phone number, date of birth, gender, and profile photo when you create an account.

Identity Verification

Driver's licence image (front and back) and a selfie photo for identity verification purposes. Licence images are deleted from our servers within 7 days after admin review.

Location Data

Your city, island, and country — used to suggest nearby vehicles. Precise GPS location is only accessed when you explicitly grant permission during the booking flow.

Booking & Payment Data

Rental dates, vehicle preferences, booking history. Payment card details are processed directly by our payment provider (National Bank of St. Kitts & Nevis) and are never stored on our servers.

Vehicle Listings

For owners: vehicle details, photos, pricing, and availability that you provide when listing a vehicle.

Usage Data

Pages visited, features used, crash reports, and performance data to improve the Service. Collected via Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics.

Communications

Messages sent through our in-app chat between renters and owners.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Process bookings and coordinate rentals between renters and owners
  • Verify the identity of owners and renters for safety purposes
  • Send booking confirmations, reminders, and support messages
  • Display your listings to potential renters
  • Calculate earnings and process owner payouts
  • Improve and personalise the Service
  • Detect and prevent fraud or misuse
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Send marketing communications if you have opted in (you can opt out at any time)

3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, we process your personal data under the following legal bases:

Contract performance

Processing necessary to fulfil a booking or provide the Service you requested.

Legitimate interests

Fraud prevention, service improvement, and safety verification.

Legal obligation

Where we are required to retain records under applicable law.

Consent

For marketing communications and optional data sharing. You may withdraw consent at any time.

4. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in these cases:

Between renters and owners

Your name, contact details, and booking information are shared with the other party to facilitate the rental.

Payment processing

National Bank of St. Kitts & Nevis processes payments. We share booking amount and reference data only.

Firebase / Google

We use Firebase (Google LLC) for authentication, database, storage, analytics, and crash reporting. Data may be processed in the United States. Google is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.

Legal requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.

5. Data Retention

  • Account data is retained while your account is active
  • Driver's licence images are deleted within 7 days of admin review
  • Booking records are anonymised (not deleted) when you delete your account — vehicle owners retain their rental history
  • Chat messages are deleted when both parties delete their accounts
  • You may request deletion of your personal data at any time (see Section 8)

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
  • Firebase Security Rules restricting data access
  • Firebase App Check preventing unauthorised API access
  • Server-side validation for all user actions
  • Regular security reviews

No system is 100% secure. If you suspect a security issue, please contact us immediately at support@rentzauto.net.

7. Cookies

Our website uses essential cookies required for the Service to function (authentication session, CSRF protection). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. You may disable cookies in your browser settings, but this may affect functionality.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access a copy of your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data (via Settings → Privacy & Data in the app, or by emailing us)
  • Export your data in a portable format
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time

9. Children's Privacy

Our Service is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

10. International Transfers

RentzAuto is based in St. Kitts & Nevis. By using the Service, you acknowledge that your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your own (including the United States via Google Firebase). We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or through the app. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
